Halo Wars sells a million in just one month

2.6 million multiplayer matches and 1 million copies sold in just over a month for Microsoft's console RTS Halo Wars.

Ensemble Studios’ Halo Wars has sold over a million units worldwide. Microsoft also boasts that statistics show that since the game's release at the end of February more than 2.6 million multiplayer matches have been played—racking up more than 118 years collectively of players time and further continuing to attract over 200,000 players a day.

With these stats in mind it’s easy to see why the company is labelling it "the best-selling RTS game on current generation consoles". Halo Wars fast forwards to the year 2525 which sees the early battles raging between the UNSC and Covenant. As Halo Wars is set 20 years prior to Halo, it allows the player to get to grips with understanding the lead up and tensions between both forces that led to the original Halo storyline.

Robot Entertainment the new studio and partner of Microsoft was one of the new studios that came out of Ensemble Studios closure. With the increasing success of Halo Wars, Microsoft has said that they are “working closely” with Robot Entertainment and that "More Halo Wars content is being prepared, so stay tuned."
